Power Global announced a partnership with Rap Eco Motors to provide the auto rickshaw manufacturer with its eZee replaceable lithium-ion battery technology for its mass-market electric tricycle product line, RANIE. This includes a passenger autonomous rickshaw, delivery truck and truck. Following the first product launch in April 2022, the two companies will collaborate to produce 50,000 electric autonomous rickshaws in the next five years.
The cooperation with Power Global is the first step for Rap Eco Motors to develop a comprehensive 360-degree solution for OEM's electric autonomous rickshaw RANIE, which is based on Power Global's 48-volt pluggable eZee battery module. Compared with the existing ICE automatic rickshaws on today's roads, each RANIE vehicle is expected to reduce CO2e emissions by 3.7 metric tons per year and eliminate dangerous NOx and PM exhaust emissions that cause air pollution.
Parmod Chabria, co-founder of Rap Eco Motors, said: “In the world’s largest tricycle market, we feel our responsibility to commercialize sustainable and clean solutions.” “Our complementary footprints in northern India and southern India do it for us. An important national expansion is prepared, which will help promote the country’s adoption of more economical and less polluting modes of transportation for thousands of drivers."
Power Global’s domestic battery production plant in Greater Noida will become the country’s largest manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries with an annual production capacity of 400,000 modules. Power Global's goal is to deploy 10,000 batteries and light mobile electric retrofit kits supported by its battery exchange network by the end of 2022.
"In order for India to successfully occupy a larger market share in the light electric vehicle field, we need to manufacture all the components of electric rickshaws domestically. Rap Eco Motors has already dominated the regional market through its ambitious business strategy and shared our views on ' “Made in India’s shared vision for electrification solutions,” said Pankaj Dubey, CEO of Power Global’s Indian subsidiary.
"We are honored to help them plan the route of national growth. We believe that the close cooperation of our company will provide cleaner and more cost-effective electrification solutions for autonomous rickshaw drivers everywhere, and strengthen our local economy. As we like It said,'Made in India and serve India.'"
